We tried to create a sophisticated urban look for this portrait photo shoot. We chose the park in Market Commons between Clarendon and Courthouse... Take a look!

To try a little bit more formal look, my client changed into a beautiful purple cocktail dress which worked wonderfully with the fall foliage in the background...

I am very excited about getting an honorable mention in the Advanced - Digital category at the October monthly Northern Virginia Photographic Society (NVPS) competition. The competition's theme was "Bridges".

The NVPS is a great club for anyone with a passion for photography and the monthly photography competitions are open to all members!

Here is the technical information for the shot:

Shooting Mode: Aperture Priority
Aperture / F-Stop: 9.0
Shutter Speed / Exposure Time: 2.0 seconds
ISO: 640
Focal Length: 78 mm

Since I was quite far away from the subject, I was able to choose a medium aperture value and keep everything sharp. I wanted to maintain some of the texture of the water so I increased the ISO so that I could decrease the length of exposure to 2 seconds... If I wanted the water to be more smooth, I would have decreased the ISO and increased the length of exposure...

Chris and Barb had a beautiful, late summer romantic and emotional wedding on the Rappahanock River bank at the rustic Clore Bros. Outfitters venue in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The clients wanted a documentary style wedding photography with no posed pictures. Here is their wedding story...

The festivities started with a group kayak ride and continued with a pre-ceremony cocktail hour. The Clore Brothers venue had a rustic log cabin and views of the river...

One of the friends of the couple serenaded them on an antique violin - absolutely beautiful...

The bride finished getting ready in the log cabin while the groom waited below with his son, who was the best man... The bride was wearing a non-traditional off the shoulder blue wedding dress and her hair down... The wedding bouquet was made with large white lilies...

Father of the bride walked her down the isle preceded by Chris's daughter who was the maid of honor. The emotions were running high and the happy tears started to flow...

The ceremony was so touching with several friends participating - singing and reading...

All the guests read the wedding vows together and the couple responded. What a great idea!

Chris and Barb lit the unity candle, with a little bit of trouble (apparently Barb had to show Chris how it's done)...

And they are married!

The ceremony was very relaxed...

It's cake time! Chris and Barb chose a non-traditional cookie wedding cake crafted by Simply Sweet.

It was a beautiful day in the beginning of December at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax County for this family portraits photoshoot. The three boys are so cute and their eyes are unbelievable! Brenden, Grady and C.J. were full of life and they even squeezed in a few races. Since there were rocks available :) they couldn't resist throwing a few into the lake as well. So much fun!

Bayat Family Portraits

Another great photoshoot! The Bayat family was a lot of fun (as always).

Everyone including the kids were up to taking pictures for two hours! We went to a wonderful spot in Arlington – the Potomac Overlook Park.

The photoshoot was at the end of November so most of the Fall foliage colors were gone but the park was still beautiful! The lighting was a challenge with the bright fall sun but we managed to find a few great spots.

Ok… So bear with me as I am struggling with the writing part of this blog business.

I had the privilege to take a few portraits of two brothers (I want to keep names out of the blog posts – we’ll see how that goes). It was my first “professional” shoot and it was so much fun! Here are a few of my favorites…

The two of them together were so much fun!
